Versión española

Wellcome to the Artificial Circulation Laboratory Web Page.

The lab belongs to the Experimental Surgery Unit of the University General Hospital "Gregorio Marañón" in Madrid and, of the teaching point of view, it depends from the Department of Surgery of the Complutense University of Madrid.

The Experimental Surgery Unit started its activities in 1982 and the lab began to work in mechanical circulatory support systems in 1983. Since then, its activity has been centred in the development of blood pumping devices and in the effects that these devices produce on the circulatory system.

AREAS OF INTEREST:

  • R&D in Mechanical Circulatory Support Systems (MCSS).
  • R&D in blood pumping devices for other applications (dialysis, ECMO, etc.).
  • Isolated organ perfusion.
  • Effects of hipothermia and different flow patterns on vascular tone.
